Edward Tulane is a proud, cold-hearted china rabbit who is dearly loved by his10-year-old owner, Abilene. He does not, however, have love for anyone except himself. This fact leads Abilene's grandmother, to tell him a story about a loveless princess who came to a disastrous end. It is a story that haunts Edward through his adventure. What will happen to him when Edward Tulane is tossed overboard from a ship and finds himself mired in the mud at the bottom of the ocean for months? It is just the beginning of his miraculous journey, a journey that will mold his heart. As it often is in real life, Edward has to go through a series of difficult trials before he can learn to care about others. Throughout his odyssey, he is often loved dearly, but he is treated with hatred by some and witnesses heart-wrenching and painful situations where he finds himself helpless. At the end of his journey, how can this china rabbit who cannot move by himself ever be able to find his way back home to the one who loved him first? You will find yourself drawn into the story of this china rabbit and his response to the people who touch his life. You will feel your own heart beating a little stronger as you cheer for the power of love to win in the end. Research Links for Author
