Epicenter
by Mel Zucker and sung by Liz Sanchez, used by permission
It started next to Daly City,
Just outside the Golden Gate.
San Andreas broke in '06,
Was at least: seven-point-eight.
From Mendocino to Los Gatos,
Tore a gash right through the field,
A century of growth and memories,
All the furrows have been healed.

April eighteenth broke a long way.
Fires roared all through the next day.
Building toppled from a fault break.
Thousands had no place to stay.

Everyone in all the cities
Knew that somethin' had gone wrong.
Bricks were fallin'.

Trees were swayin'.
Earthquake must be mighty strong.
Santa Rosa got hit hardest.
San Francisco toppled, too.
Earthquake science--it got started.
Now it's here for me and you.
Now it's here for me and you.
