The Ballad of Maude March
Lyrics by Suzy Red, Sung by Ted Newman

Verse 1:
Sallie and her sister Maude
Lived in the old Wild West.
They lost their folks
When fever struck
And tried to do their best.
Ruthie with her grumpy ways
Came to their house to stay.
But when stray bullets flew in town,
She died, I'm sad to say.

Verse 2:
The bank foreclosed
On Ruthie's house,
And said they had to leave,
Belongings gone
And lives destroyed,
Without a time to grieve.
The preacher brought the girls
To live within his busy house.
He made them slaves
And soon began
Finding Maude a spouse.

Chorus:
Truth and justice
Stayed behind.
Replaced by fear and grief.
Could Maude become
A bank robber,
Murderer, and thief?
Truth and justice
Stayed behind.
Replaced by fear and grief.
Could Maude become
A bank robber,
Murderer, and thief?

Chorus:
Truth and justice
Stayed behind.
Replaced by fear and grief.
Could Maude become
A bank robber,
Murderer, and thief?
Truth and justice
Stayed behind.
Replaced by fear and grief.
Could Maude become
A bank robber,
Murderer, and thief?
