Jake
Ransom and the Skull King's Shadow "The discovery of truth is what we all seek. And it is the good man who stands behind the truth and defends it with his life." Richard Ransom in Jake Ransom and the Skull King's Shadow What could be dangerous about being an archaeologist? Why would digging up old relics in a long buried mountain cause any concern? What if the mountain turns out NOT to be a mountain at all? Jake Ransom's parents disappear during this archaeological dig on the Yuccatan Peninsula. Not long after their disappearance, a mysterious package arrives, addressed by his father. Inside, he and his older sister, Kady, find his parents' journal and an artifact, a gold Mayan coin, broken in half. Jake and Kady wear the coins around their necks, keeping their parents close to their hearts. Determined to discover what happened to them, Jake prepares himself by undertaking to learn all he can about their work. Knowing, too, that the venture could be dangerous, he takes Tae Kwon Do lessons. Two years later, the coin's secret power is suddenly revealed when Jake and Kady are plunged through a portal of time and space. They find themselves in a new, dangerous world filled with prehistoric animals and incredible challenges. It is a world where a myriad of lost tribes of the world have come together to try to survive at a time when survival is threatened by the shadow of EVIL...the evil of the Skull King. The darkness of the evil must be stopped. Will Jake Ransom find the way? Will he discover how to multiply his own knowledge and strength through forming strong bonds of friendship in his strange world that is called Calypsos? What can be done to stop the Skull King? Will his team find the answer in time? Will Jake and Kady learn what happened to their parents? In this fast-moving science fiction adventure, you will discover the value of wisdom, the importance of truth, the nature of courage, the motivation to persevere, and the joy of teamwork in the fight between good and evil.
