A poor woodcutter and his wife have fallen upon hard times. Food is gone. The woodcutter's wife who is the children's stepmother told him to take them into the forest and leave them there. Reluctantly, he did as his wife asked.

You know the rest of the story. But this time the story of Hansel and Gretel has a different look to it.

Author/illustrator Rachel Isadora retains the traditional story but relocates Hansel and Gretel deep in the forests of Africa. She illustrates it with creepy crawlies done in detailed collages using woodblock prints.
