A
Girl, A Boy, and Three Robbers Brandon has a friend named Hannah who makes up the greatest games in the world! Sometimes she pretends to be a vampire hunter, and he gets to be the vampire. Yes, it may mean he has to be sprinkled with garlic powder and jabbed in the chest with a cardboard paper-towel stake, but most of the time he thinks her games are fun. When he's lucky, she makes up war games, and he gets to dodge grenades. When he's not so lucky, he has to play tea-party with Hannah. Tea parties almost always lead to games with fairies and songs. The truth is that Brandon would really prefer to watch television after school at Hannah's house, but she keeps him busy, usually with her wild and funny games which often require the services of her wild secret agent cat, Buttercup. When Hannah's neighbors "the triplets," steal her Buttercup, a real quest begins! Brandon and Hannah have to put on their armor and drag themselves into a terrible storm, through deadly quicksand to try to rescue her. Your first graders will find themselves laughing out loud as you read the hysterical events and terrific characterization. Your grade 2-4 kids will read it themselves and howl at Hannah's wild imagination, Brandon's reluctance, and the "triplets" surprising responses! After reading this book, your kids will want to go home and PLAY instead of watching television! "You can't depend on your judgment when your imagination is out of focus." Mark Twain Research
